Threadmongers anniversary - 21 years!

July 1, is the 21st anniversary of Threadmongers! I like to remind her, every year, that Alene Kempton Gragg was my very first customer in 2005.

THANKS to all my customers through the years for your patronage and especially your friendship. It is still fun to be the Threadmonger at quilt shows and see all the pretty, creative things that you make. Quilting is more of a lifestyle than a hobby...Do some quilting today to celebrate!

#QQ2020 - a new normal for quilters!

Yes, the hashtag stands for Quarantine Quilting 2020 and you'll see it pop up all over Facebook.  Now that we are trying to comply with the "all stop" government orders, it is surely time to use up our stash!

I hope you are staying healthy, isolated, warm, and happy to be home with family and pets.

You are probably aware that the quilt shows scheduled in this region have been cancelled for the next couple of months, at least.

Quilters Anonymous - cancelled
Tri City Quilters - cancelled
Clark County Quilters - rescheduled to November 12-13-14
Fidalgo Island Quilters - cancelled
Everett Quilt Show - cancelled
Chewelah Quilt Show - cancelled
Woolley Fiber Quilters quilt show - cancelled
Sunbonnet Sue quilt show - cancelled

These are the shows I was scheduled for.  There are a few more shows around the region that have been cancelled - check with the sponsoring guild to see what they plan to do.  And show some love to these guilds who have lost money as well as lost a source of income for the year.

Here in Sedro-Woolley, the Woolley Fiber Quilters, Quilters by the River, Bethlehem Lutheran Quilters, and some individual contributors are making quilt fabric face masks for local medical facilities. The first clinic contacted us and we were happy to work with them to identify the style, fiber content, construction method, laundering method, and the number of masks that they needed. Then we went to work!  About 35 quilters made 600 colorful face masks for that clinic and their two partner clinics in just one week!  Now we are continuing to make masks for other local clinics and we will keep doing it for the foreseeable future.

The most important thing is to work with the medical facility to see if they accept homemade masks, what style and fiber content they need, and how they'll be laundered and sanitized.

I'm assuming that you're quilting!  Finishing UFOs, making quilts to remember this time, getting graduation gifts done early, and enjoying shopping your stash.

Hey, USE UP ALL YOUR THREAD SO YOU'LL NEED MORE!  That will be good for me!

The masks are fun to make.  Too bad it is for such a dire circumstance.  But quilters always rise to the task.  We are helpers by nature and very task-oriented.  So this is a great way to contribute and to bring some color into the lives of many.  Thanks for all you do, in every way.

Eastside Quilters in Bellevue! August 15th.

Thursday, August 15th, I'm giving a program for the Eastside Quilters that is an overview of Thread by Weight and Fiber Content.  It's my most-requested program!

So I'm looking forward to seeing all those Eastside folks and maybe a few visitors.

Yes, I'm bringing THREAD for sale.  Not everything that I take to quilt shows because that involves about a three-hour setup and a two-hour breakdown.  But I'm bringing a LOT and we will discuss the various uses for the various weights and fibers.

My next quilt show after this will be the Sea Pals of Ocean Shores, September 20-22.  With more to come!  Check back on this blog for my fall schedule.

You need to stock up on thread!

Clark County Quilters show - March 28-29-30, Exit 9 off I-5!

The Clark County Quilters are having their AMAZING annual quilt show March 28-29-30!

They do it at the Clark County Fairgrounds/Event center that is just a touch north of Vancouver WA at exit 9 (officially Ridgefield).  Because they need a BIG venue to hold this BIG show!

Full disclosure:  I am still a member of CCQ, even though I moved 230 miles away.  But this is such an astounding group of quilters that I need to be associated with them!  You will want to be a member, too!

And even though I have a personal prejudice, I will tell you that the 2018 CCQ show was, without question, the BEST QUILT SHOW I HAVE EVER ATTENDED.  I almost couldn't see it all!

So they set the bar pretty high for themselves for 2019.  I'm sure they'll rise to the challenge!

I highly recommend that you get a three-day pass and come all three days!  You will want to see the Jelly Roll Race, study the Fort Vancouver Tapestry (I notice new things every time I look at it), and attend some of the demos.  There's a set of challenge quilts, other special exhibits, and a competitive block contest where your vote is needed!

Hey!  And after all that inspiration, you'll need thread!

Bring a tote bag, wear comfortable shoes, carpool with friends, and spend the day. As per the CCQ tradition, this is a Thursday-Friday-Saturday show.  Bring cash for parking and for the SHOPPING you'll do!  Be ready for quilting immersion!!

Quilters Anonymous quilt show this weekend! March 15-16-17

The big "Monroe Quilt Show" - an annual extravaganza from Quilters Anonymous - is this weekend at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe!  So many wait all year for this amazing show and their "new" venue (new for a few years) at the fairgrounds has proven to be a great location.  Everything in one space; vendors, demos, snacks, and QUILTS!

Threadmongers will be there - you'll need a huge infusion of thread after this long winter!

Quilt and Fiber Arts festival this weekend - in Everett! October 12-13-14

The quilt show season is upon us and perhaps the "crown jewel" of these shows is the one presented by the Pacific Northwest Quilt and Fiber Museum!

You're used to seeing this show in La Conner - but the show is in Everett this year to enjoy a much larger venue!

Hosted by the Edward D. Hansen Conference Center, you'll see a lovely collection of juried pieces, all for your perusal and appreciation!

Threadmongers will be there - you will be inspired to use THREAD in your next masterpiece, and I can certainly help with that!

So come to Everett this weekend - Friday, Saturday, and Sunday - and enjoy our very own quilt museum's special presentation of fiber art!

Here's the link:
