2020 - a year for staying home and quilting!

Out of adversity, opportunity arises!

Are you relishing the many quilting and fiber art accomplishments you had this year?  I hope so.

I certainly am and I have lots to relish!

Quilts, totes, pillows, pillowcases, masks, Christmas stockings, and pet beds are on my list.  It's a GREAT feeling to have used up so much fabric!

Are you out of thread yet?

Threadmongers is here for you.  Check out the list of fine threads in the frame on the right hand side of this page.  Let's get started on 2021 - so many ideas!

Thanks for your patronage, goodwill, and kindness this year.  Quilters save the world.

Welcome to everyone visiting from the Clark County Quilters' show!

Did you navigate here from www.quiltfestnw.org

The Clark County Quilters have designed an AMAZING virtual quilt show (and I REALLY mean that) for everyone to see online!  And they're leaving it up until at least December 31!

When you visit, plan to take your time...don't rush...and come back often.  The web site has so much to see that you probably need to take a break occasionally!

If there was an in-person show this year I would be there, as would the rest of the fine vendors listed on their vendor tab.  But due to the pandemic, we are doing things differently, creatively, and wholeheartedly for the love of quilting.

Threadmongers does not have a retail web site, but you are welcome to PM me here or on Facebook (look for Threadmongers) and tell me about your thread needs.  The Threadmonger is always here for you.

For now, enjoy the Clark County Quilters' Quiltfest Northwest and you will see that they deserve all the accolades that they are getting for this fabulous concept show!

Are you labeling your quilts?

Of course you are!  Quilters know how important it is to pass along the information about a quilt as well as the quilt itself!

Here are some quick ideas on QUILT LABEL CONTENT and why it's important:

Threadmongers' 15th Anniversary!

Today, July 1, is the 15th anniversary of Threadmongers! I started this micro-business in 2005 to give quilters an opportunity to use better quality threads in their quilts than they could usually find locally.

My very first customer was Alene Kempton-Gragg and I remind her of this every year!

It has been so much fun to be a vendor at the regional quilt shows and to speak to quilt guilds and groups. I treasure all the friends I have made and the great fiber art I have seen. There have been changes and advances in the industry in the past 15 years. Quilting and quilters just get better and better!

In a Washington Post article published today, they recognize the important role that sewing and mask-making has played during the pandemic.  It looks like we will have a new group if not a new generation of quilters from this experience!

Thanks to the creative community for including me and let's hope that 2021 is a return to our normal, frenetic, quilt show schedule!

#QQ2020 - a new normal for quilters!

Yes, the hashtag stands for Quarantine Quilting 2020 and you'll see it pop up all over Facebook.  Now that we are trying to comply with the "all stop" government orders, it is surely time to use up our stash!

I hope you are staying healthy, isolated, warm, and happy to be home with family and pets.

You are probably aware that the quilt shows scheduled in this region have been cancelled for the next couple of months, at least.

Quilters Anonymous - cancelled
Tri City Quilters - cancelled
Clark County Quilters - rescheduled to November 12-13-14
Fidalgo Island Quilters - cancelled
Everett Quilt Show - cancelled
Chewelah Quilt Show - cancelled
Woolley Fiber Quilters quilt show - cancelled
Sunbonnet Sue quilt show - cancelled

These are the shows I was scheduled for.  There are a few more shows around the region that have been cancelled - check with the sponsoring guild to see what they plan to do.  And show some love to these guilds who have lost money as well as lost a source of income for the year.

Here in Sedro-Woolley, the Woolley Fiber Quilters, Quilters by the River, Bethlehem Lutheran Quilters, and some individual contributors are making quilt fabric face masks for local medical facilities. The first clinic contacted us and we were happy to work with them to identify the style, fiber content, construction method, laundering method, and the number of masks that they needed. Then we went to work!  About 35 quilters made 600 colorful face masks for that clinic and their two partner clinics in just one week!  Now we are continuing to make masks for other local clinics and we will keep doing it for the foreseeable future.

The most important thing is to work with the medical facility to see if they accept homemade masks, what style and fiber content they need, and how they'll be laundered and sanitized.

I'm assuming that you're quilting!  Finishing UFOs, making quilts to remember this time, getting graduation gifts done early, and enjoying shopping your stash.

Hey, USE UP ALL YOUR THREAD SO YOU'LL NEED MORE!  That will be good for me!

The masks are fun to make.  Too bad it is for such a dire circumstance.  But quilters always rise to the task.  We are helpers by nature and very task-oriented.  So this is a great way to contribute and to bring some color into the lives of many.  Thanks for all you do, in every way.

Quilters Anonymous show is cancelled

Sadly, the COVID-19 virus outbreak in Western Washington is causing a lot of events to be cancelled and the Quilters Anonymous guild made the very tough decision to cancel their 2020 show for March 13-15 in Monroe.

Full sympathies and respect to QA for taking this proactive stance.  Please support them for their 2021 show and watch their web site for any news later this year.

For my customers who were planning to see me at the QA show, I can still fill orders!  Just let me know.

Here's the QA link:
